This new project is a fun way to look at English and will help students improve their literacy and boost confidence. Each school will pick champions who will come and show us what they've created in a celebration in June 2018.
'Talk About' is a spoken word poetry festival designed for local schools.
It is being organized by spoken word poet Cat Randle, who successfully created the Andover Celebrates Young writers project for teenagers.
It includes a fully funded arts program for students to develop their creative writing.
The festival aims to give primary school children in years 4 -6, a means to provide spiritual, moral, cultural and artistic development and self-esteem by creating and seeing their words in electronic print and sharing them with their community at a festival showcase event.
The Talk About Festival includes a program includes CPD workshops, workshops for the children, visits by poets and lesson plans. There is an added benefit of building stronger relationships between schools and their communities, and each school will get support picking their poetry champion or champions.
