Our Judge this year was Jill Low, Project Team Leader of Southampton's New Arts Complex, formerly a director of Salisbury Arts Centre and a trustee of Test Valley Arts Foundation.
Paula’s picture ‘Nero’ was judged to be “a fascinating portrait - captures the power and the pride of the animal. Really subtle but detailed use of colour - beiges, browns & fierce black against a darker beige background. It feels as though the horse is going to force its way out of the picture & prance around the gallery. A noble painting of a noble subject.”
At the presentation ceremony Test Valley Arts Foundation development officer Michael Widén handed Paula a cheque for £250 and commented: “We are particularly pleased to see our local artists so well represented in this stunning Hampshire-wide exhibition. I was most impressed by the quality of the creative work exhibited and the judge had a difficult task in choosing just one winner from amongst the twenty four paintings exhibited by artists resident in Test Valley”.
