Test Valley Arts Bus makes appearance at Woolly Hat Fair in Winchester

31/12/2015

"The  Wonders of O’ BUS-cura”

Laurence Dube-Rushby, french artist and Chapel Arts Associates, transformed The Test Valley Art Bus into a magic "Camera Obscura” using ancient photographic process and drawing, to capture the magic of the Christmas at the  Great hall, Winchester, 23rd of December, 5.00pm. The event was part of the Woolly Hat Fair Advent Calendar this year; a Door in the city was to open on each December day. The Artbus opened as door 23.

Laurence created a “Zoetrope”, a victorian style animation device, made from mundane objects such as a bread bin, record player and a  bedside lamp, and invited the public to draw their own story strip in an outdoor workshop.

People were invited to enter the Artbus for a demonstration of the Zoetrope and talk by Elliot Rushby (10 year old assistant). Laurence guided the participants through the designing of story strips which they could thereafter place in the Zoetrope for show.

The one hour event attracted an amazing 55 participants and further visitors.

It's Back! The Andover Theatre Production That Gives Voice to Andover Stories

15/12/2015

"And Now We Tell Our Tale", our Theatre In Education project touring Andover schools next February, has now been cast! And Now We Tell Our Tale was originally written for TVAF as a youth theatre piece, based on the memories of Andover people. Fifty-four children and young adults successfully staged it at the Lights on 24 February 2015. The new version has been rewritten for five actors, and includes additional stories from the original interviews.

The five actors selected are:

Nick Bull
Charlotte Ellis
Verity Hewlett
Sharon O'Leary
Fraser Wilson

Director John Baxter is looking forward to working with this enthusiastic and experienced team of actors. "It is an event in itself that we're bringing professional actors into local schools. That it's a piece of theatre about Andover and created wholly in Andover makes it unique."

The play brings alive the memories of Andover in the 1960's, a decade that changed the town for ever. Apart from performances and workshops in local schools, there will be a public performance at The Lights at 7.30  on 10 February 2016. Tickets are £5 (concessions £3), obtainable from The Lights.

TVAF are grateful for the support of HCC, TVBC and The Lights.
