Make Your Mark
A participatory community art project developed for TVAF’s 25th anniversary celebrations in 2016.
Lead Artist - Ruth Facey, DipAD MA,
The designs for Make Your Mark were developed to provide a really accessible, yet unusual participatory activity for anyone to have a go. Open access events were held at Romsey Show, Andover Festival of Motoring and Mottisfont and people were invited to use a variety of mark making tools to 'make their mark' on pieces of recycled copper.
The youngest and the oldest participants, aged 3 and over 80, demonstrated the accessibility of this activity to all.
These individual pieces were consigned to blacksmith Dave Hemsley to assemble and fabricate the panels. Engraved panels were added to record the essential support the project received.
Over 200 people made their mark; the panels have been exhibited at Mottisfont and are now on permanent display at King John's House in Romsey and at the Andover Museum as a reminder of the splendid creativity and enthusiasm we found in Test Valley.
