King’s Somborne School Association — King’s Somborne
31 March 2005 - £500
The award went towards the purchase of further musical instruments for use in music classes by all children in the school
Jonathan Goodwin
30 March 2006 - £800
Help towards buying a new trombone, the cost of which is in the region of £1,300. The size and quality of the instrument Jonathan is playing at present is limiting his continued progress, as he now needs to develop a louder, more professional quality of sound. Jonathan has set his sights on attending one of the Royal Colleges of Music where competition for a place is extremely tight. An instrument of higher quality would help him towards realising his ambition.
Callum Jones
30 April 2007 - £500
Callum, 13 years old, is a very resourceful, talented and pro-active young man in his second year at Mountbatten School in Romsey. Since attending the school he has further developed his already strong interest in music and drama. He developed a particularly lovely singing voice and began to have singing lessons with the Hampshire Music Service. On his own initiative he attended his first ever formal audition (other than for school productions) for which he had to sing, dance and act. He was offered a place in MORT, a musical production of Terry Pratchett’s story, one of ‘Youth Music Theatre UK’s Projects 2007’, which is to be rehearsed and staged in Manchester in August. Callum was chosen because he impressed with his energy and creativity as well as his vocal and physical skills.
