We support artists in the community
TVAF funds a Lead Artist position, currently held by David Dixon who co-ordinates the Chapel Arts Community Arts programme. Chapel Arts Studios rents studio space to 3 practicing artists, and runs an Associate Artists Network.
We provide educational services
David Dixon founded the Educational Project Residency (EPR) in his position as Lead Artist at Chapel Arts Studios and TVAF now puts artists in schools as part of a 6 month artists residency for post-graduates and part funded by Winchester School of Art. The EPR is registered with the national Arts Mark and Arts Award scheme which means both participating schools and students benefit from a national arts accreditation.
We organise arts events
We provide arts events to help enrich the quality of life in Test Valley and also to raise awareness and enthusiasm for arts activities. We ran 30 events in our first year and work in partnership with other organisations to deliver a variety of opportunities for creative experimentation, cultural experiences, creative expression, and arts education.
We help individual artists by giving small financial awards to support their practice in any art form. For example, we have contributed to the cost of buying musical instruments. Awards are granted two times a year, and applicants are encouraged to submit an application for the grant that best fits their project. For example, the Colvin Young Art Award is aimed at school and college leavers between 16 and 26 years of age and the Morrisons Music Award is aimed at classical musicians under 25 years. Our Open Access award is also very popular, it is aimed at supporting experimental and new projects undertaken by groups, organisations, or individuals in Test Valley.
